Here’s an example 4 day geography school trip to Iceland:

Day 1: Fly from the UK to Reykjavik. Transfer to your accommodation via the Blue Lagoon.

Day 2: Golden Circle tour – visiting Thingvellir National Park, the hot springs at Geysir and Gullfoss. Other possibilities on this day include Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant and a visit to a large tomato greenhouse.

Day 3: South Shore tour – visiting the village of Vík, pass the glacier Mýrdalsjökull and the volcano Eyjafjallajökull, Skógafoss waterfall and Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Visit the Lava Centre.

Day 4: Whale Watching if flight times allow. Transfer to airport. Return flight to the UK.

Norway

Norway makes for a stunning new geography field trip destination for you to explore: with fjord landscapes and a boat cruise, waterfalls, plus guided tours to a hydro-electric power station & bio energy factory, a glacier visit and more! We’ve got a great accommodation lined up for our school groups and you are assured the warmest of welcomes and brilliant hospitality during your stay. Here’s what you can expect from your itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Bergen airport where an English-speaking guide will meet your group and stay with you for the whole visit. Before going to Myrkdalen, there will be a short sightseeing walk through Bergen with the major sights (e. g. Bryggen, Fishmarket, Bergen Festning) and cable car up to Mount Fløien. After the sightseeing, the bus will take your group to Myrkdalen Hotel for dinner and an introduction to Myrkdalen.

Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel and a short visit to a bio energy house that gives heat to the hotel, before heading to Voss Energy power station. On the way, you will stop by the Tvinne waterfall. After a guided tour at the power station, you will visit the main factory of bio energy in Voss. Before heading back to Myrkdalen you will stop by Voss Museum to get the impression of how the daily life was in Voss 100 years ago.

Day 3: Today’s tour will be hiking to the Fresvik glacier. There will be a guided tour on the glacier. On the way back to Myrkdalen you will drive the curvy road up to Stalheim for a beautiful view of the Nærøy valley and to see some spectacular waterfalls.

Day 4: The fourth day you will visit the UNESCO listed Nærøy valley. You will visit the Viking Valley in Gudvangen before jumping on a boat cruise to Flåm. On the boat, the group will get a short lecture about the geology of the Nærøy valley. From Flåm, the group will travel with the old railway to Myrdal before heading back to Voss by local train. Transfer to Myrkdalen.

Day 5: Departure day. We will take the ski lift up to the top and walk back to the hotel to before leaving for the flight back to the UK.
