  • Palacio Real

    What you’ll experience:

    The Palacio Real, or Royal Palace, is the largest royal palace in Western Europe. It is located next to the beautiful Plaza de Oriente square.

  • Almudena Cathedral

    Subject range: MFL, Cultural, History, RS

    What you’ll experience:

    Almudena Cathedral dates from the late 19th and 20th centuries and is built on the site originally occupied by Madrid's first mosques, then by a church dedicated to one of Madrid's patron saints, Santa María de la Almudena. The interior of the cathedral is Neo-Gothic with colorful murals. Plans for the cathedral began in the 16th century after King Philip II made Madrid the capital of Spain, but construction was constantly postponed due to political issues and opposition from the archdiocese of Toledo.

  • Retiro Park

    What you’ll experience:

    The Buen Retiro Park is a 350 acres park at the edge of Madrid city centre. Students can see sculptures and monuments, galleries, and a lake.
