Memorium Nuremberg Trials

What you’ll experience: The Memorium Nuremberg Trials informs visitors about the background, progression and repercussions of the trials, and is at the original location where they were held. Selected historical exhibits such as historical audio tapes and films and parts of the original dock will give students a vivid impression of events at the Nuremberg Trials.

Select Says: The Memorium Nuremberg Trials offers various educational programmes. They may be booked as 2-hour, 3-hour and 4-hour programmes. The 2-hour programmes comprise a guided tour of the permanent exhibition with various activity or dialogue elements, the 3-hour module is usually supplemented by film material, and the 4-hour programme provides an opportunity for group work. As an alternative, the Memorium Nuremberg Trials also offers a 1 hour 30 minute standard guided tour of the exhibition.

What you’ll experience: Located in Nuremberg’s southern districts on an area of eleven square kilometres, the Nazi Party rallies were staged here to demonstrate their power. The permanent exhibition ‘Fascination and Terror’ looks at the causes and consequences of the National Socialist reign of terror. The site focuses on the topics which have a direct link to Nuremberg, and has 19 exhibition areas set in chronological order: the history of the party rallies, the buildings of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, the ‘Nuremberg Racial Laws’ of 1935, the ‘Nuremberg Trials’ of the main perpetrators of Nazi crimes in 1945/46 and the twelve follow-up trials, as well as the difficult problem of dealing with the National Socialists’ architectural heritage after 1945.

What you’ll experience: The walking tour of Munich contains a number of key historic Third Reich sites that had particular significance for the period of history in Germany from 1933 to 1945. The walking tour includes: White Rose Memorial, Konigsplatz, Briennerstrasse, Karolinienplatz, Wittelsbacher Palais, Platz der Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, Felderrnhalle, Karlsplatz, Hoffbrauhaus, Altes Rathaus, and Sterneckerstrasse.

What you’ll experience: The memorial site contains a number of exhibitions detailing the history of the Dachau Concentration Camp and highlighting the original utilisations of the exhibition rooms. It is advisable to spend the first half of the visit touring the main exhibition, which includes an overview of the history and is located in the former maintenance building, then the grounds and the other exhibitions in the bunker, the model barrack, and the crematorium.

Select Says: Guided tours for school groups are possible in English (students must be at least 14 years old), with the possibility to ask for a specific focus when you book.

Jewish Museum – Munich

What you’ll experience: The museum had three exhibition floors with both temporary and changing exhibitions exploring a variety of themes and insights into Jewish life and culture in Munich. There is a special section geared towards young as well as adult audiences providing in-depth information on Jewish history and religion. On each gallery floor there is also a study area, learning centre or library where students can explore areas of interest and find answers to their questions.

Select Says: The permanent exhibition is located on the lower level and provides an overview of Munich’s Jewish history. Tours of the permanent exhibition are available for school groups in English and are for a duration of 60 or 90 minutes and must be pre-booked.
