About this trip

Your art tour to Paris will enable your students to see the wonderful art of the city along with taking in the beautiful aesthetics and architecture that Paris has to offer. This tour is short but is sure to enrich, inspire and extend your students’ understanding. Tour Montparnasse

Subject Range: Cultural, Business Studies
What you’ll experience: This is Paris’ only skyscraper and the tallest building in France at 210 metres. You can visit the panoramic floor for fabulous views over the city. The tower is open until late, so it’s also possible to take in the beautifully lit night time beauty of Paris.
Select Says: This is by far the best place to view of the Eiffel Tower.

Louvre Museum

What you’ll experience: The Louvre is the world’s largest museum and home to one of the most impressive art collections in history. It contains over 380,000 objects and displays roughly 35,000 works of art! Please note, we advise schools to book the Musee du Louvre directly as the museum currently offers free entrance and priority availability to school groups booking directly. We are happy to advise on how to do this.

Pompidou Centre

What you’ll experience: The Pompidou Centre is France’s leading centre for contemporary arts and houses the National Museum of Modern Art. You will be able to see examples of Modern art from 1905-1960 including examples of Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism and Dada and Contemporary art including Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme and Conceptual art. Guided tours may be arranged.
Select Says: Colours have been used to decorate the structure, using a code defined by the architects: blue for circulating air, yellow for circulating electricity, green for circulating water, red for escalators and lifts. Please note, the Pompidou Centre is due to close for refurbishment work in 2025 for 5 years.

Notre-Dame Cathedral

What you’ll experience: Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in the world. It is situated in the eastern half of the Île de la Cité. The many organs are a centrepiece of the cathedral along with the cathedral’s five bells which are some of the most famous in Europe.
Select Says: The twin towers go as high as 69 metres (387 steps). The south tower houses the Emmanuel bell.

Sacré-Cœur

What you’ll experience: The Sacré-Coeur, consecrated in 1919, is one of the mosticonic monuments in Paris. At the top of the Butte Montmarte, it has one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the capital, from 130 metres above ground. In a Roman-Byzantine style, the Sacré Coeur is recognizable by its white colour.

Monet’s Gardens

What you’ll experience: The famous water lily ponds and colourful gardens created by the Master of Impressionism, Claude Monet, at his home in Giverny, close to Paris and Rouen, gave him his greatest artistic inspiration and have made this tiny river Seine-side village famous all over the world.

Boat Cruise – Bateaux Parisiens

What you’ll experience: One of the best and most relaxing ways to see the sights of Paris is to take a Seine river boat cruise. Starting at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, your cruise will take you up stream to the Ile de la Cité and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Musée de l’Orangerie

What you’ll experience: Located in the pretty Jardins des Tuileries, this museum houses an impressive collection of impressionist paintings, including Monet’s famous Waterlilies work.

Picasso Museum

What you’ll experience: 4,251 of Picasso’s works make up the permanent collection. The museum’s curators have arranged the paintings in chronological order from Picasso’s early days to his final works giving insight into the development of Picasso’s thinking over time. This gallery is highly recommended.

Palace of Versailles

What you’ll experience: Visit this stunning former royal residence, originally commissioned by Louis XIII. Extensive grounds, extravagant architecture and an extensive collection of artwork make this a valuable visit for any groups.

Eiffel Tower

What you’ll experience: This iconic monument, built in 1889, is the symbol of Paris and France. The Eiffel Tower is one of the best known monuments in the world. In 2014 a new glass floor was completed on level 1 where visitors can walk 57m from the ground and experience the sensation of stepping out into the void.

Musee d’Orsay

What you’ll experience: The Musée d’Orsay is a museum in Paris, France, on the Left Bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d’Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography.
