Geography tour to Norway: 5 days, 4 nights

Suggested itinerary

  • Day one
  • Fly to Bergen, meet with the English-speaking and geographical educated tour-guide on site
  • Bus to Myrkdalen Mountain Resort.
  • Introduction to Myrkdalen, play Norwegian games outdoors and opportunity for biking.
  • Welcome dinner at the hotel.
  • Day two
  • Short visit to the bio energy house that gives heat to the hotel.
  • Visit Voss Energy power station at Palmafossen. Stop on route at the Tvinne waterfall.
  • After a guided tour at the power station, visit the main factory to Hordaland Bio Energy in Voss.
  • Visit the spectacular Bordalsgjelet gorge.
  • Voss Museum to get the impression of how the daily life was in Voss 100 years ago.
  • Day three
  • Bus from Myrkdalen to Vangsnes, ferry over to Hella and bus directly to Fjærland Glacier Museum.
  • You will learn about the Norwegian glaciers at the museum and do a short and easy hike up to see the local glacier, Bøyabreen.
  • Day four
  • Visit the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord. Visit the Viking Valley in Gudvangen before jumping on a boat cruise to Flåm
  • The fourth day we will visit the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord
  • On the boat, the group will get a short lecture about the geology of the Nærøy valley.
  • From Flåm the group will travel with the scenic and world famous Flåm railway to Myrdal before heading back to Voss by local train. Transfer to Myrkdalen.
  • Day five
  • Bus from Myrkdalen to Bergen.
  • Short sightseeing walk through Bergen with the major sights (e. g. Bryggen, Fishmarket, Bergen Festning) and cable car up to Mount Fløyen.

  • Hiking to the Fresvik Glacier

    The glacier is found east of the Fresvik village.

  • Voss Museum

    Subject range: History, Geography

    What you’ll experience:

    Mølstertunet is a beautiful farmyard with 16 listed buildings, the oldest being from the 16th century. All of which stands as it did when the last inhabitans moved out in 1927. This allows groups to get the impression of how the daily life was in Voss 100 years ago. The museum includes guided tours every hour, and activities such as playing traditional games, seeing old fashioned clothing, and visiting the hens and sheep living there. There is also a museum shop and cafè with splendid views of Voss.

  • Nærøy Valley

    The UNESCO listed Nærøy Valley is described as one of the most beautiful places to visit in Europe.

  • Tvinde Waterfall

    What you’ll experience:

    Famous for it's beauty, the Tvinde Waterfall is over 110m high and formed by a small stream tumbling over a receding cliff.

    Located 12 km from Voss and on the road to Flåm, it's a perfect place for groups to stop off for a travel break and enjoy the breathtaking nature.

  • Viking Valley in Gudvangen

    What you’ll experience:

    Viking Valley, in the heart of the unique UNESCO listed Norwegian fjord landscape - is the setting for the town of Njardarheimr, bringing to life the real history and culture of the Viking age.   • Evanger Hydroelectric Power Station

    What you’ll experience:

    The Evanger Power Station is a hydroelectric power station located in the municipality Voss in Hordaland and is the tenth largest power plant in Norway.

    The group will be able to visit this interesting power plant situated 1,500m inside a mountain and learn about how the Askjeldalsvatnet lake is used to generate approximately 65,000 households with electricity!

  • Bergen and Cable Car up Mount Fløien

    Subject range: Geography

    What you’ll experience:

    Bergen is a beautiful, historic town and the second largest in Norway. It is a great way for groups to get a feel for the Norwegian culture and explore its most famous sights such as the fish market and Bergenhus Fortress.

    In the heart of Bergen, the cable car can take groups up to Fløien (320 metres above sea level) which is an experience in itself and takes about 7 minutes. Outstanding views of the town can be taken in from the top!
